INALCO 2023 | International Aluminium Conference

 REGAL and AluQuébec invite you to the 15th Edition of the International Aluminum Conference – INALCO 2023, from October 11 to 13, 2023 at the Québec City Convention Centre.

INALCO 2023 will bring together R&D professionals, industrial sales and marketing managers, quality control managers, academics, researchers and other leaders in the aluminum industry. The three-day conference features a variety of sessions presenting recent research results from around the world in the field of aluminum construction. Approximately 90 papers and presentations from experts from many countries are expected (Algeria, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Korea, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, United Kingdom, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, etc.).

The conference is organized in parallel with the 20th REGAL Student Day where REGAL students will present their research on aluminum.

REGAL Students Day 2020

The 17th edition of the REGAL Student Day (JER) took place on November 5 and 6 via a virtual platform in response to the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

First of all, the Aluminum Research Centre – REGAL would like to thank its generous sponsors. Over the past few years, the JER has been growing at breakneck speed, becoming an increasingly popular event on the aluminum scene! Thanks to AAFC, AluQuébec | CeAl, Alcoa, Alouette, Centre de Métallurgie du Québec (CMQ), CQRDA, CRITM, Elysis, Hatch, ICSOBA, Metra Aluminium, Nespresso, Rio Tinto and Foundry Solutions.

The first day of activity was reserved for student conferences and posters. More than 150 participants were present to hear our graduate students highlight their research work: 6 shared their knowledge via a lecture and 56 others did so in the form of a scientific poster. In recognition of excellence, the JER Poster Competition provided 13 students with an award of excellence, all presented on behalf of one of the event’s sponsors. Of particular note is the participation of 24 reviewers, without whom the excellence of the students could not have been recognized.

The second day of activities consisted of a 5-part training session, where more than 130 people benefited from the knowledge of various experts in different fields. These experts came from the academic and industrial spheres: Monika Paape-Miyoshi (ÉTS), Lyès Hacini (AluQuébec|cela), Danick Gallant (NRC), Mansoor Barati Sedeh (University of Toronto) and Ferdinand Tchounkeu (Nespresso).

In addition, participants were invited to virtual networking events where student/researcher/industry exchanges were promoted.

REGAL Students Day 2019

The 16th edition of REGAL Students’ Day (JER) took place on October 8th and 9th at Laval University.

First of all, the Aluminum Research Centre – REGAL wishes to thank its generous sponsors, without whom the event could not be held in the current scale. In recent years, the JER has grown at a blistering speed, becoming an increasingly popular event on the aluminum scene! Thanks to AAC, AluQuébec | CeAl, Alcoa, Alouette, Quebec Metallurgy Center (CMQ), CRITM, CQRDA, Elysis, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Hatch, Metra Aluminum, Rio Tinto and ICSOBA.

The first day of activities was organized in partnership with AluQuébec and consisted of a 5-part training program, where more than 130 people benefited from the knowledge of various experts in the aluminum field. The latter came from academic and industrial spheres: Prof. Raynald Gauvin (McGill University), Pr. Carl Duchesne (Laval University), Prof. Geir Ringen (Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)), Prof. Laszlo Kiss (UQAC) and Dr. Nick Parson (RioTinto).

The next day, 190 participants were present to hear our graduate students highlight their research: 6 shared their knowledge through a conference and 62 others did so in the form of a scientific poster. In recognition of excellence, the JER Poster Contest allowed 14 students to receive an award of excellence, all given on behalf of one of the event’s sponsors. It is important to highlight the participation of 32 evaluators, without whom the excellence of the students could not have been recognized.

In addition, the participants were invited to networking events where student / researcher / industry exchanges were put forward.

Finally, it is essential to highlight the presence of a delegation from NTNU, where 13 students / professors were able to realize the wealth of research done by members of REGAL. It should be noted that the day before the JER was held the Summer School organized as part of the Norwegian-Canadian Partnership in Research and Education in Primary Production of Aluminum partnership (CaNAl).

REGAL Students’ Day 2018

The 15th edition of the REGAL Students’ Day (JER) took place on June 18 and 19 at McGill University, under the chairmanship of Dr. Florence Paray. The activities of the JER were held as part of the International Conference on Aluminum Alloys ICAA16 (2018).

The JER Poster Competition allowed 53 of our students to compete and 11 of them to receive an award of excellence on behalf of one of the sponsors of the event. The members were then invited to a networking evening where Mr. Vincent Christ, Elysis CEO, came to present the new company. The second day of the JER was reserved for the 6 student conferences and the training offered by Prof. Knut Marthinsen of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, entitled Thermomechanical processing of Aluminum Alloys.

During the day, more than 140 people from academic, industrial and research circles witnessed the quality of the research carried out at the Aluminum Research Center – REGAL, in addition to some 500 ICAA delegates.

REGAL Students’ day 2017

The 14th edition of the REGAL Students’ Day was held on September 27 at Polytechnique Montréal, under the chairmanship of Pr. Myriam Brochu. In parallèle with his event, The Aluminium Research Centre – REGAL also organized a formation on the use of aluminium in the maritime sector.

The Aluminium Research Centre – REGAL congratulates 2 of its students, Jean-Nicolas Rousseau & Louis Simoneau, awarded of a scholarship from CPMT Axel Madsen Conference Grants, which will each offer them financial support in order to present their work at POWDERMET2017/AMPM2017. The Axel Madsen Conference Grant Program was established to encourage students to learn more about PM technology and pursue careers in the PM industry.

Award Hommage aux ambassadeurs to Mario Fafard !

The Cercle des Ambassadeurs of Québec has given to Mario Fafard, director of the Centre de recherche sur l’aluminium – REGAL, the award Hommage aux ambassadeurs for the coming of the 34th ICSOBA Conference & Exhibition in Québec City. This conference focuses on research and practices related to the exploration and exploitation of bauxite, the production of alumina and aluminium. The conference attracted 350 participants from 29 different countries. The Pr Houshang Alamdari, from the Department of Mining, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Laval University, REGAL member, was the principal organizer of that conference. The REGAL Students’ Day 2016 was held in conjunction with this conference.

REGAL Students’ day 2016: a success !

The 13th edition of the REGAL Students’ Day was held on October 03, 2016 at Palace Royal Hotel, located in Québec City and under the chairmanship of Prof. Houshang Alamdari [Laval University]. The event was organized during the 34th ICSOBA conference & exhibition. During the day, 154 people from academic, industrial and research communities have witnessed the quality of the research conducted within the Aluminium Research Centre – REGAL, besides the 220 ICSOBA delegates.
